Sandwich Police Department responded to a complaint of domestic battery at 316 E. Church St. on April 11, 2016 at approximately 7:34 pm. Upon arrival, it was alleged that the defendant (Joseph Marino) had grabbed his juvenile step-son by the shoulders, pinned him against the wall, and slapped him across the face. Joseph was arrested for 2 counts of domestic battery. Through further investigation, it was discovered that Joseph possessed several firearms and ammunition in the residence. Joseph was a convicted felon with no valid FOID card and was also charged with unlawful use of weapons by a felon. The firearms and ammunition were recovered and secured at Sandwich PD.
Marino was transported to the DeKalb County jail to await bond call.
